Meet Tiffany Capri Hainesworth, the First Black Woman to Solely Own a Tequila Brand

Alcohol is a major industry in virtually every country on Earth. Whether it's vodka, whiskey, or wine, there are countless brands known to sell their own take on the drink. However, a black woman named Tiffany Capri Hainesworth has written her name in history for her brand of tequila. 

In 2021, Hainesworth founded her very own tequila brand called TCapri Tequila. This brand was made famous, not by its flavor, but by Hainesworth. Before her, no black woman in history had ever owned her own tequila brand.

According to HuffPost, Hainesworth says of her accomplishment: "I love the fact that I have shown that women can do it without a man. They can do it without a partner. If your dream is to have a spirit brand, it’s attainable."

Along her journey, Hainesworth has experienced setbacks, including the misogyny of liquor store owners and retailers. But these trials haven't held her back. In fact, she's used them to fuel her motivation to create a greater business. She points out, "I’m still kind of getting acclimated to [the business], but it makes me feel good because a lot of people don’t think that it’s feasible. They don’t think that they can accomplish this on their own."
